I have taken several architecture classes and was wondering if I am allowed to design the house myself or if the plans need to be looked over by an architect or engineer before I build?
Thanks,

Brandon,
Each state has their own regulations about who can design a house.
My sources indicate that Michigan will allow anyone to design a house less than 3,500 square feet in area. Larger houses must be designed by a licensed professional.

In some states, the rules vary by town, so you should always check with your local building department.
